The following is a copy of my first post. Hope to see you there!
Just the three of us. That is how we will begin 2012. A new year means new beginnings.

I began a new blog because the old one represents the past. It was a good past, and it will be there to reflect on. My blog has always been an outlet for me during the trials and celebrations in the past 5 years. This new blog will be no different. There have been a few changes in our life and will continue to be some as the years go on.
In the past year, I have gone from being married to divorced. I am raising two girls on my own. The girls and I have moved in with my parents. My life has been turned completely upside down. And, I have had to come to terms that there are some things I will never understand. God doesn't promise us understanding, just LOVE and HOPE. My life is a blessing. And, although there are times (or years) that there seem to be disappointments, I know the blessings out-weigh those by millions.
So, this year is about getting MY life back. Focusing on my mental and physical health. Putting God first. Showing my girls what love really is. I am ready for a new year, a fresh start, a clean slate.
Bring it on, 2012!

We had our Guthrie Family Christmas on Monday. Everyone was present so we took the opportunity to take some photos. I don't have one of the entire family on here.

This year we had an elf come visit to keep a close eye on Brecken and Kayden to report back to Santa...we named him Rudy.
While in Searcy, we took a walk thru Harding's Campus. The lights were awesome. So was this sign. I love HU!

November was full of birthday fun and the beginning of basketball season. Kayden is a mascot and is loving every minute of it.

My baby girls also turned 6 in November and I agreed to have a sleepover party...enough said.

Three Month Catch Up!

So, I have been on a blog hiatus....here are just a few pics to try to catch up. It is my goal to be better through the holidays. We'll see!
Terri came home for Labor Day. We took a family picture (as always). We went bowling, had a family cookout, went swimming, and just had a great time being with each other. I Really Love My Family.

At the end of September, Audrey and I took our girls to be at Laurie and Matt's wedding. We have all known each other since birth and our families have always been very close. We were able to be there and help her for her big day. Lots of fun!

My sweet cousin Augusta had her softball senior night. Sigh, she is growing up too fast.

Aunt Terri came home in October too! She and I took Brecken out for Birthday doughnuts then had a photo shoot. It was fun to just spend time with TErri and Brecken. We also had a tiny party at chick fil a with my parents, grandparents and all the Dawkins girls.

OH, and we carved pumkins! Which one is your favorite? The SCARY TREE(not a marijuana leaf) or the owl?
Terri's best friend from school, Sarah, got married that weekend too. So, Mom kept the girls so we could go and enjoy just the two of us. It was a beautiful setting and Sarah was gorgeous!

And, Brecken is just crazy!

Kayden's birthday was a two day event. GCS began their basketball season and Kayden is a cheerleader mascot this year. I wish I had a picture to capture her excitement when I told her she could cheer. It was so sweet to hear her squeal. Brecken also got to wear a cheer top. She thinks she is big stuff.

Kayden decided to have a few(5) girls over to spend the night for her birthday. They were all very good but I was one tired mama. It was worth it. Kayden had a great birthday! And my baby is 6! Where is the time going??????

Well, that is what we have been up to for the past few months. Hopefully, it wont be January before I update again. Hopefully....

Leigh's Wedding

Last month, Audrey, Amelia, Kayden and I headed to Montgomery for Leigh and Nathan's wedding. We were able to be there Friday and help get things ready for the big day. It was a beautiful wedding, and it was good to see all the Walkers. And, we are headed back in a few weeks for Laurie and Matt's wedding!

Kayden also started gymnastics last month. I will admit the first lesson was a disaster, but today was much better. I really think she will enjoy it.

My Baby Girl

Brecken and I had a photo shoot the other day. We have had a great time just the two of us while everyone is at school. Here are a few of my favorite pictures, and a few of things about Brecken right now I don't want to forget.

She drinks more water than our entire family.
She can say the pledge of allegiance.

She loves to play outside and does really well by herself.
She loves to say, "hold me". She says it religiously, in the car.

She is very funny. Her sense of humor is definitely her own. Which is a good thing.
She is NOT a frilly, fru-fru girl. Her favorite shirts are t-shirts, especially the Braves and GCS ones.
Brecken loves to tell us she loves us. She also loves to go to pre-school when I substitute. Mrs. Lori is a favorite, again!
She and Kayden play well together most of the time. They are girls though....enough said.
She moved up into the new class at church and was thrilled to be in the "big girl class".
She uses a song book during church and "sings" along. Very loudly.
She is very nurturing. She loves to take care of her babies.
She likes to sleep with the most random things....a bouncy ball, a wind-up toy, ear buds(i took them away so she wouldn't get tangled).
This girl keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn't change a bit of it. She is such a fun spirited little girl and know just the right thing to say or do. As I tell her, she will always be my baby.

Augusta, the senior, and Kayden, the kindergartener....can you hear Sunrise, Sunset in the background?

I know, I know....waaaaaaayyyyy behind. Gotta start somewhere, so how about the first day of kindergarten. My little girl is growing up. Kayden started kindergarten on the 5th. I am not sure I would say she was excited, but maybe anxious. She had open house the night before and of course knew her classmates, except one, and was very familiar with Mrs. Stacie. For the past two years I have planned my day around picking her up from preschool at noon. Not anymore though. And, it has been an adjustment. I am excited about the time I get to spend one-on-one time with Brecken too. Here are a few pics from those two days.

On the 9th, the girls and I celebrated Janey's birthday by sending her balloons to heaven. We started doing this every year, and it is very healing for me. The girls talked about her a lot, and Brecken wanted to go see her. Sweet memories, for sure.

A Day at the Beach

Tuesday, the girls and I went to stay with LIndsey and her kiddos. We went to VBS with them, then spend the night. We took the kids to the beach for a little bit on Wednesday. The little ones weren't huge fans but we still had a good time.
After lunch we hung out at their house before we headed home. The girls were worn out! They slept the entire way home.
We love spending time with the Easons! Thanks for a great time!

Terri came home on Friday! She rode around with me while I took care of some things in town then we went out to eat with some girl friends. It was so nice to just hang out with my friends and visit. A few of us went to a movie afterwards.
Saturday, we took the girls to wild adventures, a theme/water park. We only stayed for a little bit. It was so packed because Lady Antebellum was going to be in concert that night, which we went back to that night. It was so awesome! I love them! Ter Ter and I had a great time! Thanks again for a great weekend!

K5 Graduation

On Friday, some of Kayden's best friends graduated from kindergarten. Kayden was also asked to be an usher and pass out programs. She was thrilled with this "job" as she called it! The graduates all did a great job and it is such a neat program to watch.
After that, we went to the Lawson's to celebrate graduate Reagan!

Girls Beach Trip and Field Day

This weekend me and two of my friends, Laurie and Audrey went to the beach! We have known each other since birth and as always it is good to catch up! We did a lot of laughing, eating and they did a lot of burning! Ha ha! I had a wonderful time. I lvoe you girls!
There was no one practically on the beach. The water was super cold though! Laurie accidentally transferred this to her arm! So funny!

Friday was Kayden's field day at school. They did a lot of activities in the morning, then had lunch, then she stayed and played outside the rest of the day.

Easter Weekend

We had a good Easter weekend. Saturday, we went to a cookout and Easter Egg hunt at the lakes. The girls both had a great time. The trampoline was a big hit with Brecken.
Sunday, we got a few pictures in before church and after we got home from lunch. We had planned to cook lunch at Mom's, but ended up eating out. It was Smokin' Pig, so it was fantastic anyway!

Easter Party

Today was Kayden's Easter Party/Egg Hunt at school. They ate at chick fil a and sat with the Bunny, then hunted eggs back at school.
I think they all had a good time. They spent a lot of time outside and Kayden was WORN out today!

This picture of Kayden and the Easter Bunny may not be a big deal to most of you, but let me assure you this is a major milestone! We aren't big fans of peoples dressed up as animals. Not me, not my mom, and not the girls...I was very proud of her!

My Mother-In-Law gave me a receipe of Bird Nest to make withthe girls. So, Kayden and I made them for her class. I thought they were super cute.

What baking excursion wouldn't be complete without a little chocolate, EVERYWHERE!

Spring Break!!!!!!

Two weeks ago, my parents and my girls and I set out for a trip across America. Ok, not really, but close... Before we left though I got to celebrate my birthday with some great friends! We went to Chili's and I had one of those super yummy lava cakes. SO GOOD! Then, Friday, the 1st we set out on our adventure... Me and my and best friend, Patience at Chilis!

Friday we drove about 5 hours then stopped to spend te night in N. GA. We got to Indiana Sat. afternoon and spent thre rest of the day visiting then eating a yummy dinner. We don't get to see my Dad's family much, so it is always nice to visit with them when we do. Sunday, we were able to meet with most of the in town family for a picnie and egg hunt. Jaylyn did a GREAT job getting it all organized. It was nice to see everyone at one place since we weren't there long.

We had a great time seeing our family in Indiana. We always spend lots of time onthe front porch visiting. Lots of good memories.

On Tuesday, we headed to AR to see Terri. Two of my roomies came up to eat dinner with me. Terri , Mom and Dad took the girls to eat so Ashley, Angela and I could have an adult dinner! Ha ha! Thanks again for that!

We do a lot of sitting around while we are at Terri's. It was nice weather so we were outside, ALOT!

Brecken is a ball full of entertainment. She is bossy, sassy, cuddly, loves to sing, loves to eat and doesn't like to sit still much.

We had a great time at Terri's and she told us we could stay longer, but I know that much longer and she would have needed to take a nap. We wear her out.

Thursday, we left for TN for Grandmama's house. Pawpaw was out of town, but we did see him a little bit Fri. night. Grandmama is totally 100% focus on the girls when they are there. She is all about them and does just about whatever they want. Mom and Dad just hung out and I got to spend some time with Mary.

And what do you do wen your clothes get wet....you just take them off. Sigh....

We left to come home on Sat. and it was a very enjoyable trip. The girls travel really well, so it makes it a lot easier. Thanks everyone for making our trip great.

The girls and I needed some major R&R. We headed to Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon to spend a few days with the Easons! The kids haven't all played together in a while so they were all very anxious and excited to see each other. Brecken and Lillie gave each other a run-for-their-money! I love this family as if they were really related. They are so special to me and I know I can count on them for ANYTHING! God has blessed me by putting them in my life. Thank you for a great time! And for the "cows milk". I love you! The have a great backyard! Great place to hang out and let kids run wild! Lillie cracked me up b/c she walked around like this for an hour or so! And here is my little stinker!

Terri and Brett came down on Friday night. The girls loved hanging out with them. Brett was a huge hit! I always love when Terri comes to town. She is so helpful to me with the girls and always has my back. She is so special and I love her so much.

A few months ago, my cousin, Augusta scored her 1,000 pt in her high school basketball career! She is only a junior and so we get to watch her play another year! I love watching her play. She is a very calm, laid back, consistent and talented player.
Over the past few months she has become really close with Kayden and I appreciate her influence in my girls lives. She is a great role model and I am so glad we get to be closer to her!

SWEETNESS! Well, that's what our girls are made of anyway...
Kristin and her girls came on Tuesday to be here while Cindy had surgery. So, I got to keep Kinsey and Khloe the past few days. I have fell in love with these two little girls like they are my own. The ghree big girls have played really well together and Khloe loves me, because she smiles at me all the time. One day when I just had some one on one time with Khloe, we had a litlte phot shoot. I know my sister is proud.
We also had another little girl visit us today...Miss Lillie Anna. She and Lindsey came up for the day and we had a wonderful visit with her. I got to see my good friend Summer also. It was a great Saturday.

Snowed In

At the beginning of January, John and I took the girls up to TN and AR. We spent most of our time with John's family and had a great time visiting with everyone. John came back early so he could go back to work. The girls and I made a trip over to stay with my sister in AR. We also got to visit with two of my college roommates. Tiffany, we missed you! It is fun to get together with them and we have been faithful to our tradition every year since we graduated.
I had a great time and I know the girls enjoyed every bit of attention they got. We were supposed to come home after about a week but we stayed a few extra days because of the snow. The girls got to play in it and Kayden really had a lot of fun. It was nice to have a few extra days to just hang out by the fireplace too. We had a great trip, thanks to everyone who put up with us!

As with anyone, the past few weeks have been jam-packed! So, here is our holiday in a picture rewind...

Her class also went to chick fil a, the mall to see santa, and Marble Slab for ice cream.

Mrs. Lori helped her make a craft especially for Aunt Terri, too.

Oh, and we can't forget the Christmas program.

Christmas morning Kayden was so excited she could hardly stand it. Brecken didn't want to do anything. I had to open her gifts. She was pretty excited when she saw what Santa brought though.

Santa also dropped off a few things for the girls at GG and Granddaddy's house.

In the heart of southern GA...

Saturday was homecoming at my high school. Kayden is in preschool there now, along with a few of my cousins. All of my other cousins, aunts,uncles and Granny also went to GCS. It has been a huge part of our lives and I hope it continues to be wiht my girls.
Kayden was able to cheer on the court and she did a great job. Don't think there is any ball player there, so we will be excited with a cheerleader. She cheers everyday at home, and even has taught Brecken a few.
There isn't as many alumni now as there used to be, but I still got to see some friends. One in particular, was Laurie, whom I have known since birth. She was in town and we spent a lot of time together. I love her very much and cherish our lifelong friendship.

I haven't done much picture taking until this past week. John's parents came for a visit on Tuesday and it was a much needed visit (by all of us). The girls just ate up their attention. I know they love Grandmama and PawPaw very much and can't wait to see them again. They also got to see Bug the dog, and Kayden acted like she had a new best friend.

You're Invited...

Kayden had a sleepover for her birthday yesterday. So, Anna, Emma and Lindsey came over to help her celebrate. We ate pizza, cookie cake, painted fingers, played, watched movies, ate popcorn, played some more and did a little sleeping.
I love these girls very much and they all play very well together. They finally all gave it up by 12 last night and were all up at 6:30 this morning. So, I had to nap today when Kayden and Brecken did.
It is hard to believe KK is 5! I can remember her birth really well considering I was out most of it. I love this sweet little girl and she means so much to me and those around her.
So, instead of crying, I will just say, enjoy the pics.

Thursday, John, the girls and I went to the park to play and eat lunch. It was good to have just family time. The girls love John being around, it's like they soak up every min. he is near!

Friday night was Fall Festival at school. It was cold! But, I would rather wear a coat than sweat, so bring it on. The girls had fun, of course.
Sat. was John's birthday, and we did some things in honor of that, but I didn't document them with pictures.

Sea World

On Tuesday, John and I took Kayden to Sea World. Someone John works with gave him 3 tickets, so we jumped at the opportunity for a day trip. We really had a lot of fun, and the park wasn't crowded, so it was very enjoyable. We rode some rides, and watched all the shows.
It is so neat to see her excitement for something like this. Well, I am 30 and I was probably just as excited, but she is at that age where things are just glorious!
It was a long day, but we all had a great time.

They did have a little water play area, and she couldn't stand it, so she went in with clothes on.

John's parents gave the girls a swing set together since their birthdays are so close. They were so excited for it to come and and Daddy to put it up. He was a little less thrilled about putting it together. But, it is up and we are on it everyday. Kayden is still trying to figure out the big two-seater. She can't keep it going. I can only explain it so many times. I know it will click one day.

Woo Hoo, Guess Who's Two?!

Today, my baby girl turned 2! Of course if you ask her she says she is either one or free (three). We are so blessed to have this little girl in our lives. She is such a sweet cuddle bug. She is full of spunk and makes us laugh. She is learning how to throw a fit, but also how to be polite.
We celebrated her birthday last weekend, and tonight we went out to eat with momma and daddy. We ate at smokin' pig (so yummy)! Here are some pics from each celebration and our trip to the pumpkin patch, I mean pumpkin tent.

Kayden has been wanting to go pick out some pumpkins. Well, we don't have a really good one close by, so we decided to just go to one of those tents set up in front of Lowe's. Wasn't ideal, but we will take what we can get. I don't think we have ever really done this, so I had no idea how much pumpkins cost. I was thinking, maybe $5-$10 for the large ones. NOPE! The cheapest large one was $17!!!! Sorry, I guess I am cheap, so the girls picked out a small one each and we took some pics. Then, we went to Wal Mart and got 2 big ones for me and John which was cheaper than K and B's. I digress.
The girls had fun, and my need was fullfilled. So, here are the pics.

We were able to meet John's parents, sister, niece and nephew this past weekend at their cabin on the TN river. The weather was wonderful, but the company was even better! We had a great time!
Since they won't see us again for a while, we had a birthday party for John, Brecken and Kayden.

Kristin and Kinsey got to town on Tuesday and since they aren't going to be back next month, she had Kinsey a party on Wednesday. She made the cutest cupcakes and we had dinner together. Kinsey acts like such a big girl and it was fun to watch her be the center of attention. I am so glad our girls are so close in age. I hope that they will grow up and be as close as Kristin and me.

Is SEASON PREMIER WEEK!

I am very ready and excited! I have found some shows over the summer that I love too, but I love the fall season premiers the most.
So, for the fun of it, here is my weekly line up:

Monday - Hawaii 5-0, it's new and I love Alex O'Loughlin, so I am pretty sure I will like it. Also, Castle is on Monday nights. Thanks to DVR, I won't have to miss either one!

Tuesday - NCIS, I have watched it from the beginning, and I love the new NCIS: Los Angeles. Ladies Love Cool James!

Wednesday - Survivor, I will try to get into again, but some seasons, I just can't. I have some anxiety issues too with drama, conflict, etc, so these type shows make me nervous and it's like they are real. Real Stupid. Anyway...

Thursday - CSI and the Mentalist. Patrick Jane is hilarious to me, not sure if I would like him in real life, but I do on the show. Go figure.

Friday - CSI: NY. I haven't really watched this one much, but there isn't many other choices on Friday. Anything going to be on you can think of I should watch on Friday's?

Ok, well, call me a couch potato, I don't care...this is my time to unwind, drink my Diet Coke, eat a little snack and relax!

I have a lot of friends. But, there are only a handful who have known me all my life (other than my family). Well, I spent this weekend with two of them.
Let me rewind a little. Two weeks ago, Laurie, donated her kidney to a friend/co-worker. Janet (the recipient) has been on dialysis for 1 year and after no one in her family was a match, Laurie was tested. And, she was a match. She hasn't know Janet forever, she isn't related nor did she do it because they said, we will pay you. She honestly did this selfless act because that is who she is. I was shocked when I found out she was doing it. Not because she was, but that it all happened so fast. Laurie is one of those people who you can count on anytime and who has your back, no matter what.
I love her and what makes it a little more special is that Janet has Polycystic Kidney Disease, the same thing the Dr. has told us that Brecken has. And it didn't surprise me that Laurie would do this for Janet, because I know that she would have done it for Brecken.
She is such a thoughtful and wonderful person(yeah, I am puttin' that Halo on her).
So, my other life long friend and I, Audrey decided to surprise her on Friday. She lives about 5 hours away, so we worked it out with our families who were wonderful to let us do this for her. We spend two days eating, watching tv, laughing, eating, sleeping, laughing, facebook stalking, and eating some more. It was a TERRIFIC weekend. Lauries face was priceless when she saw us. Her sisters Leigh and Louise and Nana were wonderful hostesses and we all had a good time together.
I love you Laurie, and you are my hero.

So, last week my Zumba dvd's came in. Leigh and I decided to provide the entertainment Sat. night for Laurie and Audrey...

Last night in the car Kayden and I had a very interesting/funny conversation. It went like this...
K: Does Janey sleep on clouds?
M: Umm, I am not sure, I have never been to heaven.
K: I haven't been there either.
after a few seconds...
K: Do you go to heaven in that box too?
M: You mean the thing you are buried in?
K: Yes.
M: Well, when you die, you are put in the box, then buried in the ground. But, then your spirit or soul go to heaven. YOur body doesn't go to heaven.
K: So, just part of you goes to heaven.
M:(thinking, well that wasn't that bad) Yes
(wait for it...)
K: So, just your head goes to heaven?
M: (bust a gut laughing) Oh nevermind, everything goes to heaven!

Balloons and Puddles

Janey would have been 3 on Monday, the 9th. It is hard to believe at times that 3 years has passed. A week or so before her birthday I always have lots of thoughts and feelings about her. She is on my mind constantly. This year was no different. John, the girls and I went to out to eat then we stopped and got balloons to send to Janey. Kayden loves doing this, and I feel like it is a way to keep her involved. Brecken loved the balloon too, and had no problem letting it float into the sky. The sky was really beautiful that night too. Yesterday, was the day we buried our sweet girl. I always have a hard time with that day too. I relive both days a lot. We had a good week though, and lots of family and friends have showed their thoughtfulness to us and for Janey. And we appreciate it very much.

It rained really hard one day, and so I let the girls play in the puddles. I did this a lot when I was little. I am surprised I didn't turn into dirt. Kids don't get out and play in the dirt enough these days if you ask me. My girls enjoyed it just like their mom used to.

This was how I felt on Friday, Kayden's first day of preschool. We got to the school early and the whole school was having chapel together first. She found Britton, her future husband, I mean friend from last year and they were already excited! Other kids started come in and I asked Kayden if she wanted to sit with me, or her class. She immediately replied, Uh, my class. (like what kind of question is that)
So, off her and Britton went and pretty much didn't look back. She had a good first day and they have a good class. She seems so grown up though. Sigh....

First for the Four Year Old

Last week, Kayden did a few things that were her firsts...
She went to the dentist and had her teeth cleaned. (Wasn't technically our first time to the office, just the first time she didn't have a melt down and let Buffy clean her teeth.) She did great. They don't let the parents go back with them but there are tons of toys/games/etc. for them to play with . I was really proud of her and her good nature was probably also due to the fact that I bribed her with new rain boots...go ahead and judge. I am not above it after our last visit.

We also got to go bowling with some friends. We met Amy, Abby, Anna, Patience, Reagan, Rowan and my mom at bowling alley one morning. I love to bowl and haven't been since I was at harding. Remember the bowling alley all you HU alumni? I took golf and bowling by the way. Anyway, we had a good time and then had chick fil a afterwards (of course).

Kayden starts school FRIDAY!!! I realize she is only in pre K but she goes everyday until 12. That is big time people! I am ready and I guess she is. This summer had flown by. I am really not ready to see it end. Oh well, no one asked me.

Trip to TN and AR

We returned from our trip to TN and AR on Saturday. I am just now getting around to post this b/c it is a long one. I will let the pics do the talking and I will commentate. But, I would like to say how blessed I am to have such wonderful in-laws. They treat us like we are the only ones on earth when we are with them. They are wonderful to my girls and me! I love all them very much and appreciate all the time we got to spend with them.
Ok, now on to pics.
We left on July 13th and met John's parents at their cabin on the TN river. It was very relaxing! Hannah came too and was a big help. We also got a little visit from Kristin, Kinsey and Baby Blount #2! Thanks for coming to meet us.

Last Wednesday, my sister, the girls and I headed to Little Rock area to meet with two of my college roommates. The three of us have kids all about the same age, so it was fun to see them all together. Thanks girls for a fun day!

SLEEPOVER!!!!

Kayden had a sleepover Tuesday night with Lindsey and Emma. These girls go to church and school together, not to mention their mama's are good friends. They had a good time, I think. We had a few "tiffs" but nothing that wasn't resolved quickly and forgotten. I really love both of these little girls and I love that they are my daughters friends. It was so neat to see them giggle together.
They stayed up late(well, late for me) and were up early. But, I didn't care, that's the point of a sleepover, right? Well, I am sure we will do it again...just not this week. Ha ha.
After they left on Wed. we all slept for 2 hours. I was worn out, and they didn't even require a lot of my attention.

All About Breck Breck

It has been a while since I wrote some things about Brecken and since she just went for a check up to the specialist, I thought this was a good time. All of her blood work, and test came back fine. There is usually no problem, the specialist just wants to make sure it stays that way. She is on a blood pressure medication that is just a precaution and should help keep her kidneys functioning.
She weighed 23.8 lbs. She is still very petite. She eats a lot though. If you have something on your plate, she wants it. She isn't a breakfast eater, and usually just has milk(but I do add some "powdered calories" to that) and maybe a few cheerios. Her specialist also wants her to weigh more than she does or at least gain weight quickly so her body will be prepared for anything in the future. Lunch and dinner she eats like a champ.
So, here are a few of her favorite things....
She grits her teeth and she has an underbite...all of her baby teeth are in except 1 eye tooth...just in the past two weeks she has really started "talking" and will repeat whatever we ask her to...she loves to sing "this little Christian light of mine", well, mainly she says, "no" and hides her finger...when she doesn't like something, she wrinkles her forhead and eyebrows...when we eat, she will hold hands, bow her head and after amen is said, she will say amen , too...she about falls forward when she runs (it is so cute)...she likes to make others laugh...she likes playing with Kayden and does what she tells her to, most of the time...she doesn't like grass or sand...she will wear Kayden's tennis shoes everywhere...when I tell her not to do something, she laughs...we have started potty training and she wants to wipe herself, everytime...she likes to "shhh" people...in case you haven't noticed, she looks like JOhn, but there are a surprising number of people who think she looks like my MOM...she is very cuddly, but has a little "meanness" to her...I rock her in a chair before I put her in her crib everynight...as soon as she is in her car seat, the shoes come OFF...when it is bedtime, she runs to the bathroom and says, "teee"(teeth) which she loves to brush...she likes to watch, "Doja" (dora), "bebe" (barney) and when wheel of fortune comes on she hollers out letters...she is obedient, but it usually come to me telling her she is about to get a spanking...
Tonight, at VBS she just acted to big. It is hard for me to beleive she is almost 2. I want time to stand still. I don't want her growing up yet. I love her sweet little voice and sweet kisses. She will always be my baby!

First Real Week of Summer

There has been so much going on, this is really the first week we have not had something to do, or somewhere to go. We have been to the library, gone out to eat with Daddy, played in the pool, gone to the park, etc.
It has been nice to just be low-key. So, here is a view of our week...

I decided to start potty training this week because we don't have any trips for a while...after Day 4, she is doing really well. Pooping is another story, but she will go to the potty or call me when she wants to pee. One step closer to "diaper free home".
And, who DOESN'T need reading material???

Today was a great day...after we ate lunch with our best friends, we went to the park, then played in the pool, then had a nap. Fun time was had by ALL.
Sucker time...

Kayden thought it would be funny to dress her and Brecken up, "funny". I would say she achieved her goal.

I finally finished Brecken's room (yes, we have almost been here a year, but whatever). I have a few things to get for the wall, and we haven't put up the white baseboards, but other than those few things, I'm done. I love how it turned out.

Girls Beach Trip 2010

This past week, my Mom, Granny, Kayden, Brecken and I went to Panama City Beach. I LOVE THE BEACH! I think I could live there. Although my days of relaxing on the beach all day are gone, they are traded for fun on the beach with my girls. Kayden loves to play in the water, and Brecken would rather stay inside. Granny was a huge help and watched the girls in the afternoons so mom and I could just sit and read. We did a lot of playing in the water and sand, picking up shells, eating and a little shopping. We attempted some pictures, and Brecken has a mind of her own, so some were better than others...

It has been almost a month since I blogged last. There has been a lot going on, so I will recap for you...(it is in reverse order, and it is a pretty long post)

I flew to Indiana on Wednesday. For my aunts funeral. Last Friday, June 4th, my Aunt Donna (my Dad's sister) was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, one of the most aggressive types. On Sat. we learned it was already stage 4. That night she had a stroke and Monday morning, she passed away. I can't begin to tell you what a shock this has been to our family. My Dad has a large family, and although we don't see them often, my Aunt Donna was very special to me. Her daughter, Andrea was a year younger that me and we have a lot of fun memories from our childhood. She was so much fun when we were growing up. She let us scare her, and we made her go through our haunted houses a million times a day, and she did all of it with a smile and a laugh.
Although it was bad circumstances, I was able to see all my aunts and uncles and most of my cousins. We spent a lot of time eating, laughing, crying and eating some more.
It is still so unreal that I will not get to hear her laugh again...it was very unique. She was the one that kept us all together. She would have a cook out whenever we or anyone came into town (get ready Aunt Bev, your up). She was a wonderful lady, and I will miss her so much. She made a huge impression on everyone. She taught 3rd grade and there were some of her students there for her visitation. Her visitation was on Thurday from 12-8...yes, 8 hours. At first I didn't understand why they would want to do that for so long. About 8:30, I realized why. She had over 3200 people come to pay their respects. She made an impression. I love you and miss you Aunt Donna.

"P" DAY

Friday was Kayden's last day of K3. On Thursday they had a party for K3 and K4. The "P" party was for pool, pizza, pineapple, pixie sticks and I guess that is it. The kids had a blast. They played all day on the slide. I can't believe Kayden will not be in Mrs. Lori's class next year. Not that I don't like her next teacher, but Mrs. Lori was her first teacher and she has been so great with all her kids. I love Lori and appreciate all she did for my baby.

THERAPY

Convertible, Beach, Shopping, Laughing, Eating...What do all these have in common?
Well, these were all apart of my "therapy" this weekend.
Friday night I went to FL and spent the night with my best friend, Lindsey...ALL BY MYSELF. That's right people, I had my first weekend with no husband or kids in a year. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my husband and girls, but Mama was in much need of some R&R.
Saturday, Linds and I went to the beach and just soaked in the sun. I soaked in a little too much and apparently don't know how to apply spray sunscreen...whatever.
Chad grilled hamburgers for us and after their kids went to bed we watched a movie.
After church this morning we went to eat with Chads parents then Linds and I headed to the outlets to do some shopping.
I got home this evening and I was ready! I missed my girls so much. I missed John too, he just wasn't here when I got home.
This weekend was much needed for me. I was able to carry on an adult conversation with no interruption, I didn't wipe anyone's butt, nor feed any children. I didn't have to break up fights or manage any temper tantrums. I didn't clean up after anyone, and I spent some money on myself.
IT.WAS.WONDERFUL.
Now, I am back to reality, and very glad and excited to be with my family. God blessed me with a safe trip and I am so blessed to have parents and a husband who helped make my girls weekend possible. Thanks, I love all of you! And a huge thanks to Chad for letting Lindsey come play with me, and to Lindsey, thank you for being such a great friend. I had a great weekend! You think they will let us do it again soon? ;)

My mom let me take her car...we had some guys honk at us, and Lindsey and I just laughed. If only they knew how many kids we had, how old we were and that we were married.

So, yeah, the "spray" sunscreen gave me the impression you didn't have to rub it in, just spray it...well, note to self, rub it in next time!

This had nothing to do with the beach but this was in my driveway thursday...ugh!

Mother's Day '10

I had a wonderful Mothers Day. I ate dinner with my Mom and spent the day with my girls. My husband bought me flowers and a very sweet card. All is well.

Brecken also got her hair cut, so I am saying this is her "first haircut" since I kept some. She behaved very well!

Field Day '10

Yesterday was Kayden's field day. Granny had Brecken so I was able to go and enjoy being with Kayden. Rowan hung out with us too. I love that kid!
Anyway, the kiddos all had a good day, and we were all worn out after lunch.

Day with Dad

On Thursday, I went with my dad to a math tournament. No, seriously, I did. He is the high school math teacher at his school, and they participated in an all girls tournament, so I went as a "chaperon". Call me what you want, but I had a great day. I have been to one with him before and it was very interesting. But at this tournament their were teams of five girls from each school and they were a lot of fun to be around. They took one test but we did a lot of group things and I got to participate. While they were taking a test, my dad and I walked around the campus of VSU while we were waiting.
I always enjoy being with my dad. I am a lot like him, and in the past has caused some major clashes. But, as I got older and more mature, I realized just how much he has sacrificed for me and how much of a role model he is to me. My daddy is that person that "you don't want to dissapoint". EVER! He has always expected my sister and I to do our best and "remember who we were." And I think that helped me to be who I AM.
My dad is great with my girls. He loves them and it makes me smile everytime he lights up when they are around.
I inherited a lot of things from him: my organization, my love for math, my mood swings, my attention to detail, my passion for my family...just to name a few.
Anyway, I love my daddy. He is so great to my family and has always been one of our major supporters. Thank you dad.

And, it is sad to say, this is the most recent pic of just us and it is a year old. I will work on that!

Today, Kayden went to her friend Jaden's birthday party. They had their nails done, make up, and dress up clothes all at their disposal. It was so fun to watch them. They danced or twirled alot! Happy Birthday Jaden, thank you for letting Kayden share this day with you!

Thursday was Gabi's birthday, so the girls and I went out to eat with my parents and Gabi to celebrate. We went to Gulio's to give Gabi some other choices. I think she enjoyed her Greek salad.
As I have said before, Gabi is now part of our family and we love her very much.

Weekend Review....

We had a great weekend. Yesterday after church we went to the Schultz's for a cookout and to check out their homemade slide! The guys had a lot of fun! Rachel and I had a lot of fun chasing babies! Ha ha... I do plan to try it next time though.

The girls have a new obsession...the sink. I found them "playing in the water" the other day. There wasn't a thing dry in the bathroom! Oh well, they had fun.

I think Kayden did most of the "wetting".

Saturday was March for Babies. There was a great turnout and I was very blessed to have some close friends come and support us. It really meant a lot to me that you all were there. I have raised almost $500 for the March of Dimes, and I just pray that it will help some other family.

And since I am here...three years ago TODAY we found out about Janey's condition. It is so weird sometimes the dates you remember. I will never forget today. I will never forget anything about it actually. However morbid this sounds, today is the day that Janey died for me. Yes, I bonded with her and felt her every move for 4 months after today, but it was just a waiting period for me. I knew what was going to happen when she was born. I started grieving for her on April 19th, 2007. I can recall my clothes I wore, how my hair looked, every word the tech and my Dr. said. When I got home, Patience was there. She was 9 mo. pregnant with Rowan and she just looked so helpless when I told her what was going on. My parents came over immediately and my mom just held me in my bed like a little baby. My dad made some business calls for us and numerous people came over throughout the day. I remember thinking, "I can't believe this is happening, and this is just a dream." Well, it was very real and there isn't a day I don't think about her. So, today I will remember her short little life and how much I miss her. I love you baby Janey.

Tales of a Trip

For Kayden's spring break, the girls and I headed out on a trip across America...well, not really, but to Arkansas and Tennessee. Here is a quick run down of our trip, and a few observations on the way. By the way, the girls were great in the car. We stopped often, but I couldn't have asked for them to be any better travelers.
This picture was so funny because you have to look hard to see Brecken between me and Kayden...she was not happy!

Ok, we left on April 1st and went to Summer's house in N. Atlanta. Observation #1. I HATE driving in Atlanta. We got there late, see observation 1, so we didn't get to visit a long time. Anyway, it was good to see her.

Then, we headed to Terri's on Friday. I turned 30! Observation #2. Turning 30 isn't such a big deal after all. Terri took us to Chili's and we had some yummy dinner, then we bought a cookie cake and ate on it all weekend. And look, she got candles...how sweet.
We went to the park, per Kayden's request. Observation #3. My allergies attacked me as soon as I got to terri's. I about died in her yard...horrible!

Sunday afternoon, we went to see my college roommate and her family. Burke is so precious and has the sweetest smile. Sorry I didn't get to see my other roomies. Maybe next time.

We also went to spring sing and walked around HU campus. I loved being back there. Observation #5. Why do some shows ALWAYS have to have some complicated plot????
Anyway, had a good time!

We had a great time at Terri's. She is a wonderful host, and we miss her. She made me do Zumba monday night. Observation #6. Zumba isn't for everyone, namely, ME! There should be levels!!!!!
Tuesday, we left for Grandmama and PawPaws. We did a lot of visiting and seeing family and friends. We always have such a relaxing time there. I love going!

Friday, we went to the Children's Museum in Memphis. Very cool! The kiddos and adults (ahem, mary and George) all had a fun!

Kayden and Grandmama made two batches of cookies and one batch of cupcakes! We ate good, can'tch tell.

On the way home we went to Lauries for a layover. She took us out to eat for my birthday and it was oh so yummy. We talked for a while before she had to go to work. Then, as if I hadn't eaten enough in the past 11 days, she brings home Krispy Kreme...for the love! Thanks La for everything!
We had a great trip! We were all a little ready to be home though. And, what better way to welcome home, but than for Brecken to start running fever...welcome back.

30 accomplishments in 30 years...

I started this list about a week ago, and after I read over it, much of it seemed very petty. Like, houses and cars and degrees...
So, I have narrowed my list to 3 things I have done in my wonderful 30 years:

1- I accepted Christ as my Savior and was baptized by my daddy on October 27, 1992.
2- I met and married a great man, and he loves me unconditionally.
3- I have two of the most beautiful, loving, fun, precious girls in the world.

And a big thanks to Momma and Daddy for bringing me into this world and raising me to be a Christian and doing your Best to get me on the right road. I love you both.
