I am in love...

...with my new black dress. I got it today. I love it. It is so feminine looking.
I have been looking for a black dress for a while, actually, I don't think I have had one for about 4 years or so. I haven't found one I liked, found one I could pay for or found one that I wanted to buy in "that size".
I am a bargain shopper also. Oh, I found tons I loved, but I don't usually buy something unless it is cheap, on sale or clearance. Seriously, I can probably count on both hands how many times I have bought an article of clothing at regular price. I just can't do it. But, every once in a while, I will find something that I just fall in love with and pay full price. This dress still wasn't that expensive, but not something I usually do. So, happy day for me.

My sister has a little buiness on the side...and she made us one for Christmas...isn't it neat. I love it too. and my sister.

Ryan, Kristin, and Kinsey came down for a visit this weekend too. The girls had a ball playing together, and I really had a good time visiting with Kristin. She is going through a tough time right now, so please keep her in your prayers. If you want to you can check out her blog, and read more about it.

Welcome Ella Elise

This afternoon, my cousin Aaron and his wife Gena welcomed baby Ella to their lives! I got to see her for a few minutes and capture a few pictures of her and mommy. Everyone is doing good. I am anxious to get to hold her again. Congrats, Aaron and Gena!
She was born at 12:30, and weighed 7 lbs 9 oz, and was 21 in. long. She looks like Gena to me, and has tons of really dark hair! I know there are proud aunts and uncles waiting to see more pics....

Here was Gena and Ella, yesterday at her baby shower! She was ready to see all those cool gifts!

And Mommy and Ella, today!

Sweet little girl! Look at those lips! Gorgeous!

I think she has her daddy's hands...

Saying Goodbye to Cissel

Last Monday, we had to watch Cissel get on a plane and return to Germany. First, let me rewind back to August...
My parents "adopted" two exchange students, Gabi, who is from Brazil and Cissel who is from Germany. We got to know and love these two girls quickly. They are part of our family now. They have done everything with my parents from going to church to driving to Indiana to see my Dad's family.
I don't really think anyone realizes how attached you can get to someone when they are only with you for a short time. Since Cissel just left, I will talk about her..Gabi, your time will come in May!
Cissel was so much fun to be around. She asked a million questions and was curious about everything. She tried anything we asked her to. Anytime we went somewhere, she wanted to go to. Cissel is one of those people that just has a good heart, and couldn't hurt a fly. She was very sweet with my girls and always made time to play with them. A lot of people called her Taylor Swift...she does resemble her. As you might be able to tell, Cissel is very tall (and skinny)! She loves to paint/draw. For Christmas, she painted us all pictures. Ours was a painting of the girls.
I am sure she will come back to visit, and we wish she could have stayed longer. I can only imagine her parents excitement though for her to come home. She was truly a delight to be around. She had a smile that no matter what, would make you smile.
Cissel we love you and miss you. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

On the move

Brecken is officially walking! She started really taking more steps last week and now, she can't be stopped. When we clap, she just smiles so big and knows she is doing something huge! Although, I am happy she is at that milestone, I am a little sad because she can get around without me know. I know that she will reach for me less now, and that makes my heart hurt a little.
It has been a while since I have recapped her goings on, so before I forget, I am going to write some things down. Feel free to check out the pics and video. The video was taken last week, so she has gotten a lot better since then.
Brecken has just recently started eating better. Before, it was like pulling teeth. Speaking of teeth, she still only has the front 4. She loves to see dogs, and will call them, "dah".
Other words she says are: "du"-duck, momma, daddy, da-referring to Granddaddy, GG, day-Kayden, no, shu-shoe.
She will point to her body parts when we ask where they are. Brecken loves bathtime. She and Kayden would giggle and play in there for hours if I let them. She and Kayden play really well together. Then, Brecken gets tired of it, and wants to do something else. She has a "mean" streak. She will grunt if she doesn't want to do something or if you tell her not to do something.
She is very cuddly! I love to snuggle with her right after naps or before bedtime. She loves to play hide and seek.
At church, she will take off crawling, now walking to the front to climb on the steps. I think she is warming up to more people, but she is still a momma's girl.
She has had 4 ear infections in the past 6 months. I am afraid she will have to get tubes, but when she has one, she is ill and very clingy. She likes to mimic the sounds we are making. Lately, she waves to everyone. In stores, she will say, "hi", in the cutest little voice. She gets shy sometimes and lowers her head and puts on a devilish grin.
She likes to clap when she sees or hears others doing it. Her clap isn't loud though, she stops right before her hands meet. She still loves singing in church, but she has to have a song book in her lap.
We are so blessed that we have such a happy, healthy little girl. She really is a joy to be around and I know that we have many more fun times in store.

Striking Resemblence

People that have known my sister and I all our lives always say that Kayden looks like Terri when she was little. And, she does. There is also someone else she looks like...my cousin Augusta. She was in my last post(she will be 16 soon)! Anyway, there are a few pictures of her when she was about 2 or 3 that look so much like Kayden it is crazy. I couldn't scan any, so I took a picture of one of Augusta and I don't have a lot on this computer of Kayden at that age, so this will have to do...
Can you figure out which is which? Answer below the picture.

Kayden is the first picture. I showed Kayden the picture of Augusta and asked her who it was and she pointed to herself! I laughed and told her it was Augusta. I think she was a little confused.
AND...guess who is walking? Next post will be about her(as soon as I get some good pics and video)

Intimidation!

No, I am not talking about the Queen of England, but close...my new camera. I love my camera! But, in the past 4 days, I have seriously taken it out, turned it on and stared at it then put it away, a few times. I have no idea why I am so scared of it. But, I am. I just want my pictures to be good, and I really don't know that much about it or photography for that matter. Yes, I have read the manual, twice. I learn better by someone explaining, ok, to do this, you change this...and so on.
My goal is to just play with it and learn (hopefully) that way. I do need to thank Terri, Lindsay Colson and Pioneer Woman for some tips/ideas. It really has made a difference.
Here are just a few of the past few days. When I was able to dig down inside and find the courage to take some!

Kramer, I mean Brecken in the bathtub

New Years Eve, we spent a fun night with a special friend. Well, she spent it with us.

Hello, lover!

Happy New Year!

Last night was Augusta's 16th!!!! birthday party. Since Lindsay was there, I picked her brain for a while. Aren't she and Willis so cute? And seriously, the most genuine people you will ever meet.

The birthday girl and Kayden.

Playing cards. The lighting helped my pictures significantly!

Aunt Connie giving Brecken some fun toys...her own deck of cards. She would giggle every time she picked them up.

Why do kids love stairs so much?
