Light at the end of the tunnel...?

After Monday night, I got smart and called the dr. They wanted us to come in to see Brecken. He confirmed my suspicions and said he thought she had reflux. I thought she did a while back, but it seemed to go away/get better. It makes a lot of sense now that I look back and she how she was acting at night. Why didn't that light click sooner?
Anyway, he put her on Zantac and we went this morning for a Barium Swallow test. She did really good and the radiologist said she did have reflux and continue the Zantac. She slept better last night...thank goodness, but it may take a while for the zantac to get working.
Thank you for all your comments, advice and encouragement...I needed it.
No pictures today, but I will post some soon.

Conspiracy Theory

My sweet Brecken has regressed...At 4 mo. she was sleeping through the night and had been for about 2 weeks. Life was wonderful!
Well, since then, she probably sleeps through the nights 2 nights out of the entire week. She wakes up constantly. It usually starts between 12 and 2. Sometimes it lasts for hours. We can put a pacifier in her mouth (which she doesn't start off sleeping with) and if it falls out, she wakes up. She acts very uncomfortable sometimes. I started giving her cereal around that time too, and we have tried a few baby foods. We can rock her and she will be asleep and as soon as we lay her in the bed, she wakes up very upset. We have tried to let her cry herself back to sleep...again, very angry. Another problem with that is, she and Kayden share a room. Eventually, Kayden is woken up. Kayden has never been a really good sleeper. She still wakes up and comes in our room in the middle of the night, and we have to put her back in her bed. Back to Brecken...sometimes I have to feed her to get her back to sleep. She doesn't always eat really well, but she will go back to sleep. Sometimes for a few hours, sometimes until 5 or 7. She sleeps ok during the day and in her bed. She takes a few naps, sometimes only 30 min. each time. But, she sleeps. And she is so pleasant during the day. The happiest baby in the world. My pediatrician said give her some tylenol and orajel. And I think, if I give her tylenol every night, she will be addicted. Tonight we tried the orajel and maybe it helped her gums, if that is the problem, but it sure didn't get her back to sleep.
So, while I was laying in the bed, and John was trying to get her to sleep, it dawned on me...this is about the time Kayden started sleeping in the swing. And yes, I let her sleep there. We had put the swing in the storage closet b/c Brecken wouldn't have anything to do with it before. I told John to put it together and lets see. Well, she has been crying for probably 15 min. and now sleeping. Who knows, we will see...
Anyway, so I think my girls conspire against me to see which one will keep me up at night. Brecken usually wins. I am just so exhausted, and I just want some sleep. I don't think I have had a good nights sleep since I was in the hospital with Janey and on Percocet. Here is my question to all you moms out there...Did your child do this? What is wrong with her? What do I do? I have even called the specialist and told them, just to make sure it wasn't her kidneys making her uncomfortable. They are pretty sure, it isn't. (and probably pretty sure I am crazy)
Oh guess what, she is awake...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, it is 1:01 am!

My silly girls

Brecken loves her big sister, and Kayden is the only one that can really make her laugh. Here is the proof...

Oh, that funny Kayden...

Last night in the car, Kayden said this out of the blue and to herself...
"I have to check my nose for boogies like we check for the mail..."
I had to work hard to control myself from laughing too hard!
Happy Friday!

Growin' up fast...

Brecken is 5 months old! It is so hard to believe at times. She is such a happy baby and loves for people to talk to her. She has started eating some baby food and drinking juice. She loves to be around Kayden and no one can make her laugh as hard as her. She is starting to get chunky, but I love it. Her little cheeks are so kissable. I love her so much and am blessed to have a wonderful and sweet baby.

Brecken goes to Bible class and Bunny Kayden

Yes, my baby is 5 mo. old and just now going to Bible Class. She has been at church, just gone to class with us. She really has been too little to sit in the seats, and just haven't sent her until last night. I think she really enjoyed it and my Mom was the teacher.
On Tuesday, my Mom kept the girls for me while I went to a meeting. When I got back, she told me that Kayden had come up with this outfit all herself. She just pranced in there in front of Mom, just like this...Hilarious!

Sweet little smile

Can you say John clone...

Probably trying to eat the bee

And, my little bunny (her "tail" is a bunny ear headband)

This weekend Kayden had a big weekend. She went to a birthday party for Ellie and they had a bounce house which she really enjoyed. Then she went to see the play Pollyanna with Amelia. Audrey took pics, they are on her blog. She had a busy day, and was worn out at the end. Nothing else really going on with us. I am so glad it is spring so we can get outside/wear shorts/get some sun/wear flip flops/etc.
Hope your weather is as great as ours!!!

she had a blast on the slides...

it's sleeping beauty...with some major chubby cheeks!

Dr. called...

I am not sure why he really thought she could handle a CT now, but he did call yesterday and tell us that there really isn't any need in subjecting her to radiation or sedation at this point. Nothing is going on that would raise any flags, so we are just going to continue on our 3 mo. dr. visits with him. So, she willhave blood work and an ultrasound done in April, then we will see him the first week in May. Thanks for the comments, prayers and concerns.

Radiation + 4 mo. old = NO CT

Well, we are not having the CT done today. All was a go until yesterday. The hospital called to confirm our appt. and I was curious as to how they would do a CT on an infant. When I finally got to a tech who had done one on a 4 mo. old, she told me that Brecken couldn't eat 4 hours prior to the scan. PROBLEM #1!!! Ok, we can make do and she will just be angry. Then she asked me if she would lay still for the scan... PROBLEM #2 I proceeded to tell her in my most non-sarcastic voice, She is 4 mo. old, NO she isn't going to lay still. Longer story short, they had to call our nephrologist to see if he wanted her to be sedated, which is as serious as surgery. I didn't want that, of course, but I knew they wouldn't get a good read unless she was out of it. They called and said he didn't want her to be sedated and so she wasn't going to have the CT. He was also concerned that she really didn't need to be exposed to the radiation this early (which I totally agree with and am fine with). He is supposed to call me today and discuss our next step, tests, appts, etc. While I am relieved, I am also a little anxious to see how those kidneys are really doing. I will keep ya posted.

Since Aunt Terri was in need of a hug, and as Kayden said, we are way too far away, here are a few pictures. And she said she loved you.

Oh yea, another Kayden story. John's mom called the other day and left a message on the answering machine for Kayden telling her it was snowing there. I let Kayden listen to it and when we played it the second time, she kept trying to interupt Grandmama like she was trying to talk to her. Such innocence...
