Card Queen

Kayden is one of the most thoughtful kids. Actually, she is probably more thoughtful than most adults. For a while now, anytime someone is sick, has a birthday, has a baby or is getting married, she wants to make them a card. I have a big box of embellished cards from Sams and she has just about depleted it. If she doesn't have a card, she will find paper from somewhere and color on it for someone. She has cards all over my house and Moms house. I didn't realize it in this picture, but she actually has valentines day cards she is taking to her friends at church.
The girl is just so smart, it amazes me. And the "why" stage is is full force! On the way home I counted 16 questions in 16 min. She is just so curious, and sometimes my mind needs a break, but I know she just can't help it.
Another new thing is nicknames for people. This morning she was laying in my bed with me and this was our conversation:
KK: I am going to call Brecken, Brecky.
Me: Ok
KK: I am going to call you, Ma. Can you handle that?
Me: Yes, I can HANDLE that!
I just grabbed her and gave her the biggest hug and kiss. I love this little girl!

Brecken at 4 mo.

Brecken turned 4 mo. on Valentines Day. She went to the dr. yesterday and weighs 12 lbs. and was 23 1/2 in. While she wasn't really high on the percentiles, the dr. was pleased with her fat cheeks, arm and legs! She is a happy baby, and will smile at anyone who talks to her. She did well after her shots and has been pretty content since then. We love our little baby Brecken!

Last night our church had a sweetheart party for our young adults class. We had about 7 couples there and we really had a great time. The tables and decorations looked beautiful and the food was of course wonderful.
We voted on some things, John and I were voted funniest couple. Then we all played the newlywed game for about an hour. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. It was so nice to get out and have a great time with our friends.
And hugs and kisses to my valentine. John is such a great husband and daddy. I love him so much and am so proud of him.

Wedding and TN trip

This past weekend was my cousin, Aaron's wedding, so all the family was together. We had a great time and it was good to see everyone together again. John, the girls and I headed out Sunday to see his family. Some of them hadn't met Brecken, so it was an overdue trip. We had such a good time seeing everyone. We love going there. We were able to get together with everyone a few times and eat. Kayden and Grandmama spent most of the time baking...I gained 5 lbs in 3 days I think. Thanks Hicks family for a great visit. We love you and can't wait to see you again.

Ambassasor Family

My little angel would be a year a half. It is still unreal to me at times that I have a daughter in heaven. The smallest thing will remind me of her and make me think about what she would be doing now. I have also wondered what she would look like. So many unanswered questions...
I miss her and I miss more that I didn't know her and her little personality.
There are so many other people that are like me and have been through the same situation and my heart breaks for them too.

Last year was the first year I participated in March for Babies. I headed a team for a club I am in and it was so wonderful to be able to do something to help others. March for Babies is a walk that is sponsored by March of Dimes. Their mission is to help prevent premature births, birth defects and infant mortality. Although I wont feel first hand what this organization can do, someone else can.

It was an honor to raise money for them last year, and I am in full swing already this year. At each walk, there is an Ambassador Family that sort of "represents" them that year. I was informed last night that we had been selected this year. I can't tell you what an honor it is. I hope that I can tell more people about March of Dimes and their goal and get more people involved. What will we do you might wonder? Well, not much, but on the day of the walk, we will share Janey's story with the other walkers and volunteers.

While that makes my knees shake, I am excited about getting others involved and educated about this organization. So, this will be the only time I promote this in a post.
If you give to a charity every year, I encourage you to give to March of Dimes this year. If you know someone who has lost a child, maybe you want to donate in their honor. Or, maybe you want to start your own fundraising and find a walk near you. (it is very easy to set up your own website)
I would be very grateful if you wanted to donate in Janey's honor. There is a link to the left and it is a very easy and quick process.
I have been so blessed by the many friends and family who have supported us through our rough road. And again, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the prayers and concerns. Janey is not here is body, but you can believe she is in my heart. And one day I will see her again.

I have posted the slideshow I made after Janey's birth.

Just a few pics from the past week. Kristin and Kinsey are here so we have been hangin' with them a lot. All of my family will be here this weekend for my cousins wedding, so fun times ahead!
