Hats off to you Mommies

Over the past 2 weeks I have kept myself busy buy being a substitute at the school I attended. It is a small private school and I love the environment. There aren't many subs. so I get called as much as I want to work. I will sub for any grade level, I mean, come on, it is only one day.
Last week was a 4 day week for the school. I was asked to sub in the K3 class, as the helper, not the regular teacher. I could bring Kayden so it was nice that I could be with her all day too. Well, the K3 teacher, Ms. Lori is awesome. Last semester she had 26 3 year olds in one class. Half of them stayed all day (8-3). They hired a helper/asst. this semester so Lori has the kids for about an hour or so and then half stay and Lori teaches them and the other half have "free play". After about an hour, they switch. I was the helper for Tuesday and Wednesday.
My job was to assist Lori and then make sure that 12 3 year olds didn't hit, pinch, kick, scream, and push while they played with the toys. Not a bad job, right? Well, I remembered real quick why I wanted to be a stay at home mom. The kids were good. Me, on the other hand. I was EXHAUSTED!!!!!!! I don't know how Lori does it all day, every day.
On Tuesdy I had a meeting at 6:00 pm so I went straight home after school, did some laundry, cooked dinner and went to my meeting. I crashed that night. It was all I could do to drag my body out of bed on Wed.
Most of you are thinking...so what I do that everyday! Well, I don't! And I was reminded why. I also subbed on Friday for middle school.
I really don't know how you mom's work full time outside the home and then come home to one or MORE children and work some more.
Ladies, I am going to lay it out for you...I AM LAZY! I don't want to get up at 6:30. I just admire all you Mom's who work and take care of your family. I know that for some Mom's working is what they want to do and it works for their family. Work is not what I want to do and I have been blessed with a situation that I can stay home.
It has been 3 years since I have had a 8-5 job full time. I am so out of "shape".
Anyway, all this to say, "hats off to you". I hope your husband appreciates you as much as I do! :)
Here are a few pictures too. Kayden took her backpack with us. She was so cute! (Even with her wild and crazy hair!)

Big Girl Panties!!!!!

Yep, that is right...Kayden is officially in big girl panties. Except at night, she has been wearing them for about 7 days now, with NO accidents. Only one night she has wet her pull up!
My sister started potty training her back in August and it went ok for a while then we had some setbacks and then we just gave up. About a week ago, I decided I was really tired of buying pull ups so I put her in panties and those plastic panties. She peed in them about 3 times. I almost gave up and then a day or two later, she started telling me she needed to go.
Not only does she tell me, she will go in there by herself, get on the potty and sometime attempt to wipe herself. She actually does a really good job. They are so cute too...she has Dora, princess, tinkerbell and Mickey Mouse.
I guess I should be careful what I wish for. I am so thrilled that we are at that point, but wow, my little baby is a little girl. It amazes me how grown up she acts. She can talk better than a lot of 2 year olds I know.
And she is so funny...We laugh so hard at her because of the things she says and does.

The other morning, Kayden and I were in the kitchen and this is how our conversation went:
Kayden: Daddy is going to get your baby girl.
Mommy: What?
Kayden: He is getting your baby girl.
Mommy: Daddy is getting my baby girl?
Kayden: Yeah, he is getting your baby girl, don't let him get your baby girl!
Daddy: I am going to get my baby girl!
Kayden: Don't get Mommy's baby girl, Daddy!

We love her so much and she is really fun to be around. Here is another one and I will stop.
This morning, I asked her if she would like a brother or sister next...(no, I am not pregnant, just a random question, I promise!)
Mommy: Kayden, do you want a brother or sister?
Kayden: Ummm, a brutter.
Mommy: What do you want to name him?
Kayden: Cookie! Mommy, can I have a cookie?

So much for an in depth conversation with my 2 year old!
We went to a birthday party for Lauren this weekend. It was at a place called Jungle Jyms. Just another fancy word for a toddler heaven. It has a huge cage of plastic balls, slides, tunnels, ropes, etc. Kayden loved it. The birthday party was fine, but she was ready to get back to sliding.
We haven't been doing much else here because it is actually feeling like winter for a change. Tomorrow it will probably be 70 though. That's south GA!

Am I really that old??????

This past weekend was Homecoming where I graduated from High School. We didn't have football, so it is during basketball season. This year I will celebrate my 10 year hight school reunion!!!! Since homecoming was so early in the year, we decided not to do anything formal until the spring. But, we wanted to to get together with whoever could come at such short notice.
So, 5 other of my classmates and I had lunch at Nikki's house before the game. Laurie came from Montgomery and she was the only one from out of town. She actually came for the whole week to take a little vacation. We had such a great time even thought most of us see each other quite often, it was nice to see a few long lost faces. Our families were there and it was honestly like old times. Five of the 6 of us have actually known each other since we were in diapers. Most of our parents went to school together too.
In high school, we always had such a good time when we were together. Lots of laughs in our group. Since then though, we have had marriages, births and deaths between the 15 of us. We missed those who weren't able to be there this weekend and hope everyone will be able to attend our "formal" reunion later in the year.
It was also sad not to have Adam there. We talked about him for a while and how it was so hard to think we would have lost a classmate and friend already.
At the homecoming game we had a moment of silence for Adam before the National Anthem. It was so nice to be able to remember him during this time and think about the awesome sacrifice he made for us and our country. Adam will always be missed.
Here are a few pictures from our get-together.

More firsts...

Well, Kayden and I made our first trip to get an Xray. Actually, she had one of her chest a year ago, but this one was of her foot.
She was jumping around yesterday and came down wrong on her foot and was obviously in pain. I held her for a while and then put her down because it wasn't swollen. As soon as she stepped down, she crumpled to the floor. So, we called the doctor, they ordered an xray just to be sure she didn't have any major damage. She was limping on it which is what concerned me most.
The Xray came back with no damage or fracture. She is still limping on it today, so I guess it is just sore.
Let me tell you about the experience of trying to get her on the table for the xray. She knew we were in a doctors office and as soon as they called our name she wrapped her feet and arms around me like we were going to go sky diving. They put is in the room and she immediately started telling me she was ready to go...weren't we all. So, they put a 100 lb drape on me so I could stand with her. She wouldn't let go. I mean, screaming and TOES pinching my clothes so I wouldn't put her down. I finally got her on the table and the tech tried to position her foot. Yeah right! They had to take the picture and then see if it was ok because she wouldn't be still. My child acted like I was leaving her and she kept telling me not to leave her.
After about 5 "takes" we were finally done. I hope we aren't there ever again!!!!!!
She is fine today other than a gimp leg! :)

This week...

Is National Folic Acid Awareness Week! I have been on my soapbox about this in a previous post, so today I will just remind you if you are thinking about getting pregnant (EVER) then please take extra folic acid. If you wait until you are pregnant, it is too late for it to prevent any disorders.

First Time for Everything...well, some things

Resolutions is such a strong word. I prefer, "things I am going to work on but if I don't completely follow through, oh well." It just seems like so many, including myself, beat ourselves up if we "fail" and then just throw our hands up and forget about it completely. There are a few things I want to do and I started them this week.
I want to come closer to God and study His Word more. I would also like to be a better Wife and Momma.
John and I are going to get out of debt. That means major changes, but we need to do it. I also want to lose weight. And I need to. Which means that no more Chick-fil-a sweet teas. Ok, maybe one here or there, but I was drinking about 5 a week! Hello!!!!! Do you know how much sugar and money I was going through? A LOT!
Today, for the first time in um, FOREVER, I went to Chick fil a and ordered WATER!
So, there is a first time for everything!

This is my tribute to the Chick-fil-a sweet tea!
