50th Wedding Anniversary

This past weekend was my grandparents 50th anniversary. Wow, 50 years! I am so proud to call them my grandparents and they mean so much to me. They are both two of the most generous people I have ever known. They are the backbone of our family and they love everyone! I am so blessed to have such wonderful grandparents who have sacrificed so much for their family and never complained about it. I love them and hope they know what an inspiration they are to me.
Annie and Sky put together a nice dinner and took care of all the arrangements. The food was so good. There were a few family members who weren't able to be there, and we missed them but it was really a great party.
My Aunt Connie put together a scrapbook for them that included letters from all the family members to Granny and Papa. We are a very emotional family so you can imagine that their was not a dry eye in the place. Ok, the guys didn't cry, except my Papa. He has such a tender heart and it is hard for him not to show that. I guess that is one of the things I admire about him.
Happy 50th Anniversary to my wonderful grandparents!

22 week check up

Today I went for my check up. It is hard to believe it has been 4 weeks since we were there last. In some ways it seems like 4 days, and in some ways like 4 months. Janey's heartrate was 137. I had a list of questions for my dr. and she took time to sit with me and answer each one. I felt at peace about some things that I had on my mind. I will still go back every 4 weeks until close to the end, just like a normal pregnancy.
Janey is moving around like crazy. I love to feel her move. I think she moves a little more when Kayden is around my belly. Could be my imagination, but I like to think she can hear her.
We are doing ok, taking one day at a time. We are blessed with so many friends and family looking out for us. Thank you for your prayers. Please continue, we know we have a long road ahead of us.
We ask Kayden what is is Mommy's belly and she says, "BABY", and we can ask her what the baby's name is and she says "JaJa". It is very sweet. We have had some close friends to have babies recently and she loves them. She wants to touch them and hug them all the time. It is very sweet and I know she will be that sweet with Janey when she is born.
Kayden is very smart and catches on very fast. She knows her friends and our friends by their names and faces. She will point out an airplane in the sky and she likes to check the mail. We are uplifted by her everyday and she brings joy to us constantly. I am so blessed to have such a sweet spirited little girl. She is very thoughtful and likes to blow kisses instead of telling someone "bye".
I guess that is enough rambling for now. I love hearing comments so keep them coming. Sorry the picture is me, and a little boring. Had to document my belly progress. :)

Trip to Jacksonville

(We just got a new computer and I am just now installing my Kodak software, so this is a little late.)
On Saturday, we decided to get out of town and head to Jacksonville to see Aunt Lindsey, Uncle Chad, Shep and Rauly. We have been getting a lot of smoke from the fires in the area and when we went outside, we could barely breathe. Hoping it was clear in FL, we left anyway. It was so smokey on the interstates, but when we got to Jacksonville, it was beautiful. Don't ya love Florida!
We met them for lunch at Longhorn then we headed for the beach. It was packed too! I think everyone else had the same idea. When we got there we were told that the interstates were closed due to fire and smoke. We played in the water and had a really good time for a few hours. You can see below what the guys did. Lindsey had my camera, that is why I am in pictures and she ISN"T! Anyway, the kiddos had fun and when we had all had enough, we bought some ice cream and headed to the condo for showers.
Since we couldn't get home we decided to make the best of it and Lindsey and I headed to Wal-Mart for a few items and the guys ordered pizza. After we all ate and the kids had baths, they went to bed and we stayed up and watched a movie. Ok, they stayed up and I went to sleep. Ooops!
Lindsey and Chad cooked us breakfast and then we headed for home. We were afraid it might take us a long time, but apparently the smoke had cleared and it didn't take us too long afterall.
We really enjoyed being with the Easons. We love them so much and are SO glad they are only a few hours away now.
Thank you guys for a great time, food, and your bed.

My Momma

This is a little late (we haven't had our computer here). So, I am just now able to get on the blog for this post. I don't have my old computer, so no picutres either.

I don't talk about my Momma on here much. Not on purpose, I guess my focus in on Kayden. But, she is very deserving of her own post today. Since Kayden was born she has been at my side for everything. All I have to do is ask, and she is there or does what I need. And she has always been there. I can't remember a time that she has ever been mad at me(I am sure she has, but it never showed). She has always been supportive in EVERY aspect of my life.

She has laughed with me, cried with me, talked with me and listened to me for the past 27 years. She is such a compassionate woman. I can't say enough about her and how much she means to me and our family.

I love her so much and feel like I am the luckiest person in the world because I have had her there to guide me how to raise my daughter. I am so blessed to have her so close and I will cherish that always!

I love you Momma!

On my soapbox...

I feel like this post is extremely important and I need to write about it NOW!
Although I will not go into detail about my situation, I do want to make you aware of a major issue for those of you ever wanting to have a child. I am going to explain this the way I understand it but for a more medical explaination, please see the link at the bottom. And please tell your girlfriends, sisters, cousins, mothers and co-workers.

When Janey was diagnosed with Anencephaly, we were told this defect is due to a lack of folic acid in the mother. Although I started my prenatal as soon as I found out I was pregnant, it was too late to change her diagnosis. The neural tube closes during the 3-4th week of pregnancy. Usually, a mom is just finding out she is pregnant at that time. It has been made very clear to me that even though a prenatal included folic acid, it still may not be enough to prevent this defect. I know there was nothing I could have done, but I can tell you so that you can talk to your doctor. If you have been on prenatal for a while, I am not sure if this even applies to you. But, if you are trying to have a baby, START YOUR PRENATAL NOW! I am not a doctor and don't even claim to know much about all this. I do know what COULD prevent this to someone else. And it won't hurt to ask about additional folic acid.

I am not sure why this has happened to our family, and I may never know. But, if me telling just one person about the positive effects of folic acid, then maybe all this pain will not be for nothing.
